NEW DELHI: Helping neighbouring countries in a fight against deadly Covid-19, the Indian Navy’s Landing Ship Tank (Large) INS Airavat arrived in Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 24, 2021, to deliver 10 Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers in response to the Government of Indonesia’s need.
After the medical supplies have been disembarked, INS Airavat will continue to deliver medical supplies to other friendly nations in the region as part of the continuing Mission SAGAR.
INS Airavat, which has a primary purpose of carrying out amphibious operations, is also equipped to carry out HADR missions and has already participated in several relief efforts around the Indian Ocean.
Previously, on July 24, 2021, the same ship trans-shipped medical aid, delivering 05 Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers (100 MT) and 300 Oxygen Concentrators to Indonesia.
India and Indonesia have a deep cultural link and relationship, and they have been cooperating in the marine domain to make the Indo-Pacific region safer. The two navies also conduct collaborative naval exercises on a regular basis, including bilateral drills and coordinated patrols.
