India’s growing influence on the global stage has received another boost, as Isha Ambani — the accomplished daughter of Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani and philanthropist Nita Ambani — has been officially appointed to the Board of Administration of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) for the 2024–2028 Olympic cycle.
This prestigious appointment was announced by the FIVB, which governs all forms of volleyball worldwide and plays a critical role in shaping the sport’s future. Isha’s selection was made under Article 2.4.1.5 of the FIVB Constitution, which gives the President authority to nominate up to four additional board members. These nominations are designed to enhance the board’s diversity, inclusivity, and global representation — something Isha’s profile fits perfectly.
Isha Ambani has joined the FIVB Board as a representative of the gender-in-minority category, a move that not only ensures gender balance but also acknowledges her exceptional contributions to business, digital transformation, and social inclusion.
Currently a key member of the executive leadership team at Reliance Industries Limited, Isha has spearheaded multiple high-impact initiatives, especially in Reliance Retail and Jio platforms, making her one of India’s most influential young business leaders. Her work has transformed India’s retail and digital ecosystems, setting new benchmarks for innovation and growth.
Beyond business, Isha has led Reliance’s Diversity and Inclusion Program, actively working to create equal opportunities for women and underrepresented communities in the workplace. Her vision of inclusivity aligns strongly with the FIVB’s commitment to global representation and athlete welfare.
The FIVB, in its official statement, praised Isha Ambani’s appointment, noting that her “blend of business leadership, innovation, and social advocacy would bring a fresh and powerful perspective to the Board.” Her global business outlook and commitment to uplifting others will help shape FIVB’s strategies in the coming years.
Also joining the board is Louise Bawden, a celebrated Australian volleyball player and three-time Olympian, who has been elected by her peers as President of the FIVB Athletes’ Commission. Bawden brings deep experience from the sport itself, while Isha offers a strong corporate and social perspective — creating a balanced and forward-thinking leadership team.
This moment marks a historic milestone for Indian representation in international sports administration, and further cements Isha Ambani’s status as a global changemaker. As she joins hands with sport leaders from around the world, she carries the hopes of millions of Indian women and youth who look up to her journey of leadership, innovation, and empowerment.
