The spiritual heartbeat of India prepares to echo once again as the grand Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 gears up in Puri on June 27. With an estimated over 1 million devotees expected to flood the holy city, the Odisha government has pulled out all stops to ensure a safe, smooth, and vibrant celebration of this centuries-old tradition.
Unprecedented Security & Vigilance
In a first-of-its-kind move, authorities have deployed 10,000 security personnel across key locations, backed by 275 CCTV cameras monitoring every corner of the city. Quick Response Teams will remain on high alert to handle emergencies, ensuring the safety of devotees as they throng the streets chanting “Jai Jagannath” and “Haribol”.
Massive Healthcare Infrastructure in Place
To manage the health needs of the massive crowd, the administration has set up:
69 temporary health centres
64 ambulances strategically positioned
265 hospital beds
A team of 378 doctors and paramedics on 24×7 duty.
A City Transformed into a Divine Canvas
Adding to the spiritual fervour, artists and craftsmen are working tirelessly, adorning temples and streets with vibrant murals, decorations, and intricate art pieces. “We are blessed to paint for the Lord—this is not work, this is devotion,” shared a local artist.
Rath Yatra Route & Rituals
The 4-kilometre-long sacred journey from the Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple will see the deities—Lord Jagannath, Balram, and Subhadra—placed in grandly decorated chariots. Pulling these chariots is believed to bestow salvation (moksha) upon devotees.
Chief Minister’s Assurance
Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed preparations at a high-level meeting in Bhubaneswar, assuring citizens and pilgrims worldwide that the state is ready for a peaceful and joyous celebration. “The whole world watches Puri during Rath Yatra. We are committed to making this divine event flawless,” he stated.
With meticulous planning and divine devotion, Puri is all set to welcome millions to one of India’s grandest religious spectacles.
