In a significant boost to government job aspirants, the Ministry of Railways has announced that more than 50,000 appointments will be offered in the financial year 2025-26 through its Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
In a press release on Wednesday, the Ministry stated that over 9,000 appointment letters have already been issued in the first quarter (April–June) of the fiscal year, setting a strong pace for the ambitious recruitment target.
1.86 Crore Applicants, 55,000+ Vacancies
Since November 2024, the RRBs have conducted Computer Based Tests (CBTs) for more than 1.86 crore candidates, covering seven recruitment notifications with 55,197 total vacancies.
“This will enable the RRBs to offer more than 50,000 appointments in FY 2025-26,” the Ministry confirmed.
Tech-Powered Transparency & Fairness
To ensure transparency and integrity, the RRBs have implemented several innovations:
100% deployment of jammers to prevent electronic cheating at exam centres.
E-KYC-based Aadhaar authentication introduced for the first time in large-scale recruitment, with 95% success rate.
Nearby exam centres are now allotted to candidates, especially women and PwBD candidates, for convenience and increased participation.
Future Outlook
The Ministry also revealed that 12 notifications for 1,08,324 vacancies have been issued since 2024 as part of the annual recruitment calendar. Another 50,000+ appointments are projected for FY 2026-27, reflecting the government’s continued focus on job creation through the public sector.
