In a remarkable achievement that reflects discipline, courage, and unwavering dedication to the nation, Udaipur-born Prateek Singh Rao has scripted history by becoming a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army at the young age of just 34. His promotion from the rank of Major marks a proud moment not only for his family but also for Udaipur district and the entire state of Rajasthan.

Lieutenant Colonel Prateek Singh Rao, a resident of Aravali House, Pula, has earned this distinction through years of relentless hard work, a disciplined lifestyle, and deep-rooted patriotism. He began his journey in the Indian Army in 2012, after completing rigorous training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Dehradun, where he was commissioned as a Lieutenant. Since then, his military career has been marked by continuous challenges, responsibility, and excellence.

Service in High-Risk and Strategic Areas
During his tenure as a Major, Prateek Singh Rao served in some of the country’s most sensitive and demanding regions, including Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, and Bathinda. Operating in extreme weather conditions, difficult terrains, and high-risk operational zones, he displayed exceptional leadership, resilience, and tactical skills. His dedication and ability to lead troops under pressure earned him recognition and praise from senior military officials.
From a Modest Background to an Extraordinary Milestone
Hailing originally from Gali village near Jaipur, Prateek Singh Rao comes from a humble and value-driven family. His father, Shiv Prasad Singh Rao, is a retired railway official, while his mother, Renu Sisodia, serves as a librarian in a government school in Udaipur. Education, discipline, and ethical values have always been central to the family, forming the foundation of Prateek’s success.

A Rare and Inspiring Army Couple
What makes this achievement even more inspiring is the fact that Prateek Singh Rao’s wife is also serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. With both husband and wife devoted to national service, the couple stands as a powerful symbol of commitment, sacrifice, and shared patriotism. His younger brother, Mansvi Singh Rao, described the promotion as a moment of immense pride for the entire family.

Lieutenant Colonel Prateek Singh Rao’s journey sends a strong message to India’s youth—that with determination, patience, and devotion to the nation, extraordinary dreams can indeed be achieved. His success story has now become a beacon of inspiration for future generations aspiring to serve the country in uniform.
