After Noida and Greater Noida, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region—popularly known as Yamuna City—is rapidly transforming into one of India’s most promising education and knowledge hubs. Backed by world-class infrastructure, seamless connectivity, and proximity to the upcoming Jewar International Airport, the region is attracting major national and international academic institutions.
According to YEIDA officials, over 10 leading Indian and foreign universities are in various stages of planning, construction, or land acquisition in Yamuna City. This surge is expected to create large-scale opportunities in education, employment, healthcare, and real estate, reshaping the region’s economic landscape.
Existing Institutions Laying a Strong Foundation
Yamuna City already hosts several reputed institutions that have established a strong academic base:
Galgotias University – Known for engineering, management, and multidisciplinary programs
Noida International University – Offering globally aligned courses
NIMS Medical College – A key centre for medical education and healthcare services
These institutions have played a crucial role in positioning Yamuna City as a serious education destination
New Campuses Under Construction
Several prominent institutions are currently developing or preparing to launch their campuses:
JBM University – Construction underway, nearing completion
NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies) – Its first campus outside Maharashtra, planned on 35 acres, with map approvals completed and construction expected to begin soon
YEIDA has already allotted land to dozens of institutions, with many more proposals under evaluation.
Mega Investment Proposals by Top Education Groups
Five major education groups have submitted proposals involving thousands of crores in investment, highlighting Yamuna City’s growing global appeal:
Saveetha Institute of Medical & Technical Sciences – 250 acres | Rs 3,000 crore investment
MDI Gurgaon – 50 acres | ₹1,000 crore investment
Limkokwing University (Malaysia) – 100 acres | Rs 2,000 crore investment
American Leadership Academy – 100 acres | Rs 1,000 crore investment
Sharda Educational Trust – 50–100 acres for 10 international university campuses, a multi-specialty hospital, medical college, five-star hotel, and hotel management institute | Rs 5,000 crore investment
These projects are expected to bring global education standards to the region.
YEIDA’s Roadmap for the Future
YEIDA CEO RK Singh stated that a new institutional scheme in Sector-11, covering nearly 100 acres, will be launched soon to accommodate rising demand. Land acquisition and allotment processes are also underway in other sectors.
The authority’s vision goes beyond education—integrating healthcare, hospitality, and research ecosystems to build a holistic global education city.
