In a major boost to primary healthcare services, the Delhi government has launched 81 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the capital from January 14, 2026. The initiative aims to provide accessible, free, and quality healthcare services to residents, especially benefiting the poor, middle class, and people living in slum clusters.

CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates Centres
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated one of the newly opened Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Nangal Raya, West Delhi. During the event, she said the government’s priority is to ensure timely and free healthcare for every citizen of Delhi. Ministers and MLAs also inaugurated centres in their respective constituencies, while the Chief Minister remotely launched all 81 centres simultaneously.

Basic Treatment Now Available Near Homes
A visit to the Nangal Raya centre showed clean facilities, doctors on duty, and availability of essential medicines. Local residents said the new facility will save them from visiting crowded hospitals for minor ailments. Common health issues such as fever, cold, cough, blood pressure, and diabetes can now be treated close to home.

Total Ayushman Arogya Mandirs Rise to 319
Before this expansion, Delhi had 238 operational Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. With the addition of 81 new centres, the total number has now increased to 319. The Delhi government plans to establish over 1,100 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in the coming years to ensure comprehensive primary healthcare coverage across all neighbourhoods.

Free Treatment and Diagnostic Services
According to the government, these centres will provide free consultations, essential medicines, and basic diagnostic tests, including blood tests, sugar tests, and blood pressure monitoring. Special focus will be given to the healthcare needs of women, children, and senior citizens. Doctors from senior and government hospitals will also visit these centres periodically to provide specialised care.

Reducing Burden on Big Hospitals
Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are part of the Ayushman Bharat initiative, aimed at strengthening Delhi’s primary healthcare infrastructure. Health experts believe that expanding these centres will significantly reduce the burden on major government hospitals and ensure that citizens receive timely medical attention.
With this expansion, Delhi takes another step toward building a stronger, more accessible, and people-centric healthcare system.
