Unplanned Construction and No Traffic Police Choke Indirapuram–Noida Corridor

Daily commuters travelling from Indirapuram and nearby areas to Noida are facing severe traffic congestion, forcing thousands to leave home much earlier than usual with no certainty of reaching work on time. Residents say unplanned civic works, repeated digging, and the absence of traffic police have turned the stretch into a daily ordeal.
CP Baliyan, a resident of Shipra Suncity, says uncertainty has become routine. “I have to leave home at least an hour early because there’s no way to predict how long I’ll be stuck in traffic. On top of that, traffic police are rarely present to manage the situation,” he said.

Repeated Digging Adds to Public Anger
Locals blame poor coordination between civic agencies for worsening the situation. According to Prabhakar Pandey, work on the stretch never seems to end. “One day it’s drain work, the next day it’s sewer pipeline work. If the municipal corporation planned properly and executed projects together, people wouldn’t have to suffer again and again,” he said.
Several residents claim complaints to officials have yielded little response. Rahul Thakur, a working professional, said office-goers are bearing the brunt. “Job-going people are suffering the most. When we complain to municipal officers, there is hardly any hearing or follow-up,” he added.

Peak Hours Bring Daily Standstill
Morning and evening peak hours are particularly painful, residents say. Lalit Pandey pointed out that authorities appear insensitive to the scale of the problem. “This is not a small issue. Every day, morning and evening, people are stuck in jams. The work should be completed quickly so that some permanent relief is provided,” he said.
The scale of traffic pressure is massive. According to local resident Rishikesh Kumar, “More than 50,000 vehicles use this route daily to travel from Indirapuram and Ghaziabad towards Noida and Delhi. Getting stuck for hours has become normal, not an exception.”

Authorities Cite GRAP Restrictions, Promise Faster Completion
Officials admit delays but cite environmental restrictions as a key reason. Prabhas Jha, associated with the ongoing work, said, “Due to repeated GRAP restrictions, work was delayed. However, the pace has now increased and the project will be completed soon.”
KP Anand, General Manager of the Jalkal Department, acknowledged the importance of the route. “This road connects Indirapuram and multiple parts of Ghaziabad to Noida and Delhi. Traffic jams here are causing serious inconvenience, and efforts are being made to resolve the issue,” he said.

Commuters Demand Timelines, Not Assurances
For now, residents want clear deadlines, better traffic management, and coordinated planning. As daily frustration grows, commuters say only visible action — not repeated assurances — can restore normal movement on one of the region’s busiest corridors.
