The Delhi government has approved a development package worth around ₹235 crore for the Mehrauli Assembly constituency. The plan aims to improve traffic management, healthcare facilities, public safety and civic infrastructure in one of Delhi’s oldest and most culturally significant regions.
CM Highlights Mehrauli’s Cultural and Historical Importance
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Mehrauli is not just an vidhansabha area but a living symbol of Delhi’s ancient heritage. Landmarks such as the Yogmaya Temple, Iron Pillar, archaeological parks and historic monuments make the region a witness to thousands of years of history. The development plan, he said, balances heritage preservation with modern urban needs.
Rs 235 Crore Fund Approved, Multi-Department Execution Planned
Officials said the sanctioned amount will be utilised through coordinated efforts of departments including PWD, Irrigation and Flood Control, Delhi Jal Board and DUSIB. The government has assured that there will be no shortage of funds for constituency-level development and that projects will move forward in a planned manner.
Badarpur–Mehrauli Elevated Road to Ease Traffic
One of the key projects announced is the proposed Badarpur–Mehrauli elevated road. Once completed, it is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity across South Delhi. Multi-level parking facilities are also planned to tackle parking shortages and roadside congestion.
Healthcare, Sports and Public Amenities in Focus
The development package includes plans for a modern hospital with 100 to 200 beds. In addition, new community buildings, playgrounds for youth, open gyms, improved street lighting and safer public spaces will be developed across the constituency.

Projects to Be Taken Up on Priority Basis
The Chief Minister assured residents that all approved works will be executed on a priority basis and closely monitored for timely completion. The initiatives are expected to improve daily commuting, enhance safety and significantly raise the quality of life for residents.

The event was attended by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Mehrauli MLA Gajender Yadav and a large number of local residents, reflecting strong public interest in the long-awaited development plan.
