Delhi took another significant step towards clean mobility as 100 new electric buses were added to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off the buses on Thursday, reiterating the government’s commitment to making Delhi’s public transport system fully electric and emission-free in the coming years.
Interstate Electric Bus Service Launched
Along with the induction of new buses, the Chief Minister also inaugurated an interstate electric bus service from Kashmere Gate to Dhaula Kuan and further to Dharuhera in Haryana. The new route is expected to improve regional connectivity while offering a cleaner and cost-effective travel option for daily commuters.

Electric Bus Count Crosses 3,500
With the addition of these buses, Delhi now has more than 3,500 electric buses operating across the city. The Chief Minister said this expansion will strengthen public transport, reduce dependence on private vehicles, and help ease traffic congestion on major routes.
Focus on Pollution Control and Traffic Reduction
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said the government has taken multiple effective steps to control air pollution and modernise the transport system. Electric buses play a crucial role in cutting vehicular emissions, especially in a city battling high pollution levels during peak seasons.

Pink Card Facility for Women Coming Soon
The Chief Minister also announced that the Pink Card facility for women will be launched soon. This initiative will allow women passengers to travel conveniently without the need to purchase tickets repeatedly, making daily commuting simpler and more accessible.

Support for Delhi Metro Expansion
The Delhi government is also extending financial support for Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro and strengthening the existing metro network. Officials said this integrated approach will create a more reliable, affordable and sustainable public transport ecosystem.

Transport Minister Highlights Regional Benefits
Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said the Dhaula Kuan–Dharuhera electric bus route will benefit office-goers, students and industrial workers. By reducing reliance on private vehicles, the service will help cut traffic congestion, lower pollution levels and boost DTC’s interstate operations and revenue.

A Step Towards Cleaner Urban Mobility

Officials said the continued expansion of electric buses reflects Delhi’s long-term vision of cleaner, quieter and more efficient urban mobility, setting an example for other metropolitan cities across the country.
