President Droupadi Murmu will launch the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana today at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, marking a significant expansion of the capital’s flagship girl child welfare programme.
The scheme replaces and upgrades the existing Ladli Scheme, increasing financial support and broadening its vision to empower daughters through education and long-term financial security.

What Changes Under the New Scheme?
Under the earlier Ladli framework, financial deposits were made at different stages of a girl child’s life — including at birth and key educational milestones. The revised Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana enhances both the financial assistance and the overall support structure.
The government said the revamped scheme aims to ensure stronger financial backing for girls from economically weaker families, helping them pursue education without financial barriers.

Eligibility Criteria
The scheme will benefit families:
◆With an annual income not exceeding ₹1.20 lakh
◆Residing in Delhi for at least three years
Whose girl child was born in Delhi
Officials said the new initiative reflects a broader focus on empowering daughters through education, dignity and economic self-reliance.

Vision for Girl Child Empowerment
The government stated that the scheme aligns with the larger national vision of strengthening girl child welfare and ensuring their participation in nation-building.
With enhanced financial benefits and structured support, the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana aims to provide long-term security and encourage continued education for thousands of girls across the capital.
