Drainage Failure Leaves Gurugram Village Under Water for Months, Residents Raise Alarm

Residents of Gorwal Mohalla in Balai village of Nuh district, Gurugram region, have been facing severe waterlogging for nearly seven months, making daily life extremely difficult for around 80 households in the locality.
The main access road to the neighbourhood has become almost unusable due to stagnant water, mud and broken road surfaces. Locals say that despite repeated complaints to authorities, no permanent solution has been implemented, leading to growing anger among villagers.

Drainage Issues Near Pond Worsen Situation
According to residents, the problem has worsened because the neighbourhood is located close to a village pond, and there is no proper drainage system to channel excess water away.
As a result, rainwater and wastewater collect on the road and remain stagnant for long periods. Over time, the road has deteriorated completely, leaving the route filled with mud, foul water and uneven surfaces, making movement extremely difficult.

Residents Say Complaints Ignored
Locals including Huzefa, Adil, Maulvi Mubeen and Aamir said they have raised the issue multiple times with concerned authorities.
“Every time we complain, officials assure us that the issue will be resolved soon, but nothing actually happens on the ground,” one resident said.
The villagers claim that the continued neglect has forced people to walk through dirty water every day just to leave their homes.

Women and Children Facing Maximum Hardship
Residents say the situation is particularly difficult for women and children, who must use the waterlogged road for everyday activities such as going to school, work or the market.
Parents also fear accidents because the waterlogged road lies very close to the pond, making it difficult to distinguish between the two during heavy water accumulation.

Risk Could Increase During Monsoon
Villagers warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, the upcoming monsoon season could make the situation even more dangerous.
With increased rainfall, the entire stretch could get submerged, raising the risk of accidents and further damaging the already broken road.

Officials Promise Inspection
Responding to the complaints, Vishal Azad, Block Development and Panchayat Officer of Nagina, said that proper drainage arrangements are being carried out in the area.
He added that if such a problem persists in Balai village, a team will be sent to inspect the site, and steps will be taken to resolve the issue at the earliest.
Residents, however, are demanding immediate action to repair the road and create a proper drainage system to prevent further suffering.
