Manesar Civic Body Launches Project to Light Up Dark Streets

Residents of Manesar will soon see improved street lighting as the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) plans to install 5,000 streetlights across 20 wards in the city. The project is estimated to cost around ₹7.5 crore and aims to improve safety and visibility in several dark stretches.

Tender Process Underway
Officials from the Municipal Corporation of Manesar said the civic body has started the process of hiring an agency to install the streetlights and provide supporting infrastructure, including cables, control panels and poles.
According to officials, the streetlights have already been procured, and the contractor will now be responsible for:
●Installing streetlights across designated locations
●Supplying cables and control panels
●Installing octagonal and RCC poles
●Mounting lights on existing RCC poles erected by Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN)

Areas to Benefit from the Project
The new streetlights will be installed in several residential and developing areas of Manesar, including:
●Sikanderpur Bhada
●Nakhraula
●Garhi Harsaru
●Wazirpur
●Manesar village
Officials added that additional locations have been included following requests from several Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs).

Project Timeline
Once the contract is awarded, the selected contractor will be given eight months to complete the installation work.
Most areas will be covered in the first phase, while a second phase may be introduced later if further demand arises.

Long-Pending Demand of Residents
The issue of inadequate street lighting was widely raised by residents during the municipal elections held last year, with many demanding immediate action to improve safety in poorly lit areas.
Several councillors also submitted proposals seeking streetlights in their respective wards.
Earlier, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel had expressed dissatisfaction over delays in streetlight installation and monitoring systems, as municipal corporations across the state failed to meet the January 31 deadline set for the project.
Officials say the new installation plan is expected to improve road safety, reduce accidents and enhance security in residential areas across Manesar.
