In a significant step toward promoting healthcare innovation, the Government Institute of Medical Sciences has expanded its AI Startup Clinic platform to the Purvanchal region through a new academic and technology collaboration.
The Centre for Medical Innovation – GIMS Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahayogi Gorakhnath University and the Centres of Excellence at Maharana Pratap Institute of Technology to extend the initiative to Gorakhpur and the wider Purvanchal region.
The move aims to create a collaborative ecosystem where doctors, researchers, startups and technology experts can work together to develop advanced healthcare solutions.

Platform for Clinicians, Startups and Tech Developers
Under the collaboration, the AI Startup Clinic will serve as a platform connecting multiple stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem.
The initiative will allow:
Clinicians and medical experts to identify real-world healthcare challenges
Researchers and technology developers to design innovative solutions
Startups to test and develop medical technologies that can improve patient care
Officials said the program will encourage innovation in medical devices, digital health tools and AI-based diagnostic technologies.

Advanced AI Infrastructure to Power Research
The technological backbone of the initiative will be provided by MPIT’s Centres of Excellence, which are equipped with advanced computing infrastructure powered by NVIDIA GPUs.
This high-performance AI infrastructure will support:
●Training of AI models
●Validation of healthcare algorithms
●Deployment of AI-driven medical solutions
Experts believe such facilities will accelerate the development of artificial intelligence tools for diagnostics, treatment planning and healthcare management.

MoU Signed in Presence of Academic Leaders
The agreement was signed at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in the presence of several academic leaders, including:
Surendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of MGUG
Pradeep Kumar Rao, Registrar
Sudhir Agarwal, Director of MPIT
According to Rakesh Gupta, the collaboration aims to bring medicine, technology and innovation together to create solutions that make healthcare more accessible and effective.

Strengthening Healthcare Innovation in Eastern Uttar Pradesh
By expanding the AI Startup Clinic to Purvanchal, GIMS hopes to strengthen regional research capabilities and startup ecosystems in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Officials said the initiative will encourage young innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs to develop solutions that address healthcare challenges faced in smaller cities and rural areas.
Experts believe such collaborations between medical institutions, universities and technology centres can play a key role in transforming India’s healthcare innovation landscape.
