Preparations for Census 2027 have picked up pace in Ghaziabad and Noida, with authorities gearing up for the country’s first fully digital census exercise.
Officials said the house listing and housing enumeration phase will be conducted between May 22 and June 20, marking the beginning of a large-scale data collection drive.

10,000 Enumeration Blocks, Massive Workforce Deployed
The Ghaziabad administration has already divided the district into 10,025 enumeration blocks and deployed a large workforce to manage the process.
Each enumerator will be responsible for:
●Covering around 150–180 households
●Surveying a population of 650–800 people
The administration has also set up a structured monitoring system, including charge officers, trainers, and supervisors to ensure smooth execution.

Digital Mode and Self-Enumeration Option
This census will be conducted entirely in digital mode, using mobile applications and the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) portal for real-time data collection and supervision.
Residents will also get an option to self-enumerate online, reducing the workload on field staff. However, officials clarified that verification by enumerators will still be mandatory.

Training and Monitoring Framework in Place
Authorities have already initiated training programs:
Senior officials and charge officers trained earlier this month
Field trainers to be trained between March 23–25
Over 4,000 enumerators and supervisors to be trained subsequently
This structured approach aims to ensure accuracy and efficiency in data collection.

Noida Yet to Complete Key Preparations
While Ghaziabad is moving ahead, preparations in Gautam Buddh Nagar are still in progress.
The crucial block demarcation exercise — required before deploying enumerators — is yet to be completed.
District Magistrate Medha Roopam has directed officials to speed up the process, warning that any negligence in census work will not be tolerated.

Next Phase Scheduled for 2027
Officials confirmed that the second phase of the census, which will include population and caste enumeration, is scheduled from February 9 to 28, 2027, followed by a revision round in early March.

A Major Step Toward Digital Governance

The shift to a fully digital census is expected to:
●Improve accuracy and transparency
●Enable real-time monitoring
●Reduce paperwork and delays
Authorities say the initiative marks a significant step toward modernising India’s data collection systems.
