In a major logistical move ahead of the inauguration of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, the administration of Ghaziabad has ordered the arrangement of around 800 buses to transport attendees. Alongside this, all schools in the district have been directed to shift to online classes for the day of the event on March 28, 2026.
The decision was confirmed by District Magistrate Ravinder Kumar Mandar, who stated that the administration has the authority to requisition buses to ensure smooth transportation and traffic management during the high-profile inauguration ceremony.

Massive Transport Planning for Mega Event
The buses are being arranged primarily from private schools across the district. According to Regional Transport Officer PK Singh, the number may be revised depending on final requirements. Each bus is expected to cost around Rs 12,000 for a round trip to Jewar.
Authorities opted not to use buses from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation due to higher operational costs, which are estimated at around Rs 22,000 for similar distances.

Schools Shift to Online Mode
To avoid disruption and manage traffic effectively, schools in Ghaziabad have been instructed to conduct online classes on March 28. The move is aimed at ensuring that school buses can be used for transportation and that roads remain less congested during the event.
However, some school authorities have expressed concern. Jyoti Gupta noted that institutions operating that day may face logistical challenges due to the sudden shift.

Political Reactions Surface
The move has also triggered political debate. While opposition parties have questioned whether buses are being used to transport party workers, BJP city president Mayank Goel dismissed these claims, stating that the arrangements are solely for beneficiaries of government schemes attending the inauguration.
He added that additional buses have been arranged independently and termed the allegations as “baseless and misleading.”

Focus on Grand Airport Launch
The upcoming inauguration of Noida International Airport is being positioned as a landmark infrastructure event, expected to boost connectivity and economic activity in the region. With large crowds anticipated, authorities are focusing on transport coordination and traffic control to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
