In a shocking revelation, Noida Police have busted a gang that was allegedly selling illegal firearms through Instagram, exposing how social media platforms are being misused for serious criminal activities. The operation led to the arrest of two accused and the detention of a minor, highlighting a growing nexus between technology and organised crime.
The arrests were made near a culvert in Sector-14 after police acted on confidential intelligence inputs. During the raid, authorities recovered 11 illegal weapons, including sophisticated pistols and country-made firearms, raising alarm over the ease with which such weapons are being circulated.
From Social Media to Crime Network
According to police officials, the gang had turned Instagram into a marketplace for illegal arms. They used the platform to:

During the crackdown, police recovered:

●Five .315 bore country-made firearms
●One additional .32 bore weapon
Investigations revealed a clear profit-driven model. The accused purchased illegal pistols for around Rs 40,000-Rs 45,000 and sold them at Rs 65,000–Rs 75,000. Similarly, country-made weapons were bought at Rs 4,000–Rs 5,000 and sold for nearly double the price.
What began as a fascination with flaunting weapons among peers soon turned into a full-fledged illegal business, driven by both status and financial gain.
