The wife of Khagaria Superintendent of Police Bhanu Pratap Singh has lodged a formal written complaint at the Patna Women Police Station, accusing the IPS officer of sustained domestic harassment and physical assault. The complainant, Pooja, reached the police station late Monday evening to demand legal action against her husband and several members of her marital family. She also leveled serious allegations against her father-in-law and brother-in-law, accusing them of forcibly separating her from her six-year-old daughter, Vibha Singh, and effectively abducting the child to keep them apart.
Coercion Over Divorce and Denied Access to Daughter
According to the written submission, Pooja stated that her marital disputes had escalated significantly, leading to continuous mental and physical distress. She alleged that she is being subjected to sustained pressure by her husband and in-laws to append her signature to divorce papers against her will. She further maintained that she has been entirely barred from meeting or communicating with her young child for nearly two months. Facing persistent denial of access to her daughter, Pooja had previously raised the matter before higher administrative authorities, approaching both the Bihar State Commission for Women and the Director General of Police. On Monday, prior to registering the complaint at the women police station, she also visited the official residence of the Chief Minister in an attempt to seek redressal.
Confrontation Outside Khagaria SP Official Residence
The lodging of the police complaint follows a tense scene outside the official residence of the Khagaria Superintendent of Police on Tuesday, where Pooja went in an effort to see her daughter. Demanding entry past the high-security perimeter, she told administrative staff that she could no longer tolerate the enforced separation from her child. Security personnel deployed at the main gate prevented her immediate entry, leading to an exchange between the officer’s wife and the sentries on duty. Pooja was seen urging the security staff to contact their superiors inside the residence to secure clear permission for her visit, reiterating that she was entitled to see her child.
Circulating Video Footage and Administrative Scrutiny
A video recording depicting Pooja outside the residence gates has been widely shared across multiple social media platforms. The footage captures her demanding access to the residential quarters while explaining her ongoing separation from her daughter. Newspaper reports tracking the matter have stated that the visual material circulating online remains independently unverified. With the formal submission now placed before the Patna Women Police Station, the complaint encompasses serious charges including physical cruelty, illegal confinement of a minor, and unlawful coercion regarding divorce documentation. Official findings regarding the accusations will depend on the formal legal inquiry conducted by the investigating officers.
