Commuters between Noida and Delhi are set to face late-night travel disruptions as key lanes of the DND Flyway undergo urgent resurfacing work. Authorities have announced that the Delhi-bound carriageway will remain closed nightly from 11 PM to 6 AM until March 18, potentially affecting thousands of daily travellers.
Major Route to IGI Airport Affected
The DND Flyway is one of the busiest connectors between Noida and South Delhi, used heavily by office commuters and airport travellers. Officials warned that the restrictions could delay passengers heading for early-morning flights from IGI Airport, urging people to start earlier than usual.
During closure hours, vehicles will be diverted via the Chilla border, a route likely to experience increased congestion.
Second Phase of Long-Pending Repairs
The work forms part of the flyway’s second resurfacing phase, being executed by the concessionaire as part of maintenance and upgrades. Repairs had earlier faced delays due to pollution control restrictions and winter weather conditions that limited the safe execution window for bituminous road work.
Authorities say around 70% of the resurfacing is already complete, with the remaining stretch expected to be finished by March.
Heavy Daily Usage Raises Stakes
Opened in 2001, the 9.2-kilometre, eight-lane flyway carries nearly 2.5 lakh vehicles every day, making it a critical artery for NCR mobility. Even short-term disruptions on this corridor can ripple across traffic networks in both cities.
Advisory for Commuters
Traffic police have advised motorists to:
◆Use alternative routes during night hours
◆Allow extra travel time, especially for airport journeys
◆Follow diversion signage to avoid bottlenecks
◆Stay updated through traffic advisories

Why the Upgrade Matters
Despite temporary inconvenience, officials stress that resurfacing will improve ride quality, safety, and long-term durability of the corridor. Once completed, the upgraded stretch is expected to reduce wear-and-tear issues that have built up over years of heavy traffic.
For now, however, late-night travellers will need patience — and careful planning — as one of NCR’s most vital road links undergoes a much-needed overhaul.
