After complaints of foul-smelling and dirty water from several residential sectors, the Greater Noida Authority carried out a four-day random water testing drive. Officials claim that all collected samples met prescribed quality standards, even as over 100 residents reported falling ill in recent days.
The testing drive was launched on the instructions of the Authority’s CEO following growing public concern.
Illness Reports Raise Serious Questions
Residents from Alpha, Delta and several adjoining sectors had complained of contamination in household water supply. Many reported stomach infections, vomiting, and fever, which they linked to the water they received at home.
Despite these complaints, the authority’s initial findings have failed to explain the spike in illness cases, deepening the mystery.
120 Samples Collected Across 23 Sectors
During the special drive, water samples were collected from 120 houses in more than 23 sectors, including:
Sadopur, Waidpura, Saini and Sunpura
Pali and Milk Lachhi villages
Gamma-1 and Gamma-2
Delta-1, Alpha-1 and Alpha-2
Omicron-1, 2 and 3
Residential societies in Greater Noida West
Officials said no deviation from quality norms was found in any of the samples.
Private Lab Report Still Awaited
Along with the authority’s teams, Shriram Laboratory also collected water samples from the affected areas. Officials confirmed that the final lab report is yet to be submitted, which may provide further clarity on the situation.
Residents are now pinning their hopes on this independent analysis.

Senior Officials Inspect Treatment Plants
Additional CEO Sumit Yadav conducted a surprise inspection of the water treatment plant at Palla village and the master reservoir at Jaitpur. The water quality at both facilities, including Ganga water supply, was found to be within permissible limits.
Authorities have directed the water department to maintain regular and stricter monitoring going forward.
Authority Shares Helpline Numbers
ACE0 Sunil Kumar Singh urged residents to immediately report any case of suspected contaminated water. Citizens can contact:
Senior Manager (Water): 9205691408
Manager (Water): 8937024017
Officials assured that swift action will be taken on verified complaints.
Residents Demand Deeper Probe
Despite official assurances, residents remain dissatisfied and are demanding a deeper investigation into internal pipelines, storage tanks, and intermittent supply contamination. With illness cases still being reported, pressure is mounting on the authority to identify the exact cause.
The final laboratory reports and further inspections are now awaited to bring clarity and restore public confidence.
