Anger erupted in Greater Noida West after residents of Eros Sampoornam Society staged a protest over prolonged power cuts that left the high-rise complex without electricity for several hours. Frustrated by repeated outages and lack of response from the management, residents blocked the main road outside the society, bringing traffic to a standstill.
The protest highlighted growing dissatisfaction among residents who pay hefty monthly maintenance charges but continue to struggle for basic amenities like uninterrupted power supply.
Children, Elderly, and Patients Hit the Hardest
With the society plunged into darkness, residents said children, senior citizens, and patients faced severe difficulties. Lifts stopped functioning, water supply was affected, and homes became unlivable, especially during peak evening hours.
Residents alleged that despite collecting substantial maintenance fees every month, the society management failed to ensure reliable electricity backup or timely coordination with the power department.
Road Blockade Causes Traffic Chaos
As tempers flared, residents gathered on the road, raised slogans, and blocked traffic, leading to long jams on major roads in Greater Noida West. Office-goers returning home were forced to wait for extended periods, adding to the chaos.
The protest served as a strong message against what residents described as “persistent negligence” by the society’s management.
Police Step In to Restore Order
On receiving information about the road blockade, Bisrakh police rushed to the spot and held discussions with the protesting residents. After assurances and persuasion, the police managed to clear the road and restore traffic movement.
Police personnel remain deployed in the area to prevent any further escalation of the situation.
Warning of Bigger Agitation Ahead
Residents warned that if frequent power outages continue and permanent solutions are not implemented, they would be forced to launch a larger and more sustained protest. They demanded accountability from the society management and timely intervention by authorities to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
The incident once again raises serious questions about infrastructure preparedness and service delivery in rapidly growing high-rise residential zones of Greater Noida West.
