NEW DELHI: In partnership with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the Indian Railways has implemented a real-time tracking system for 2,700 trains. According to a senior railway official this GPS-based equipment will be put in 6,500 more trains in the following weeks. The technology, known as Real-Time Train Information System (RTIS), consists of GPS-based gadgets that run on ISRO’s Satcom Hub and are installed on 2,700 locomotives in 21 electric loco sheds.
