The sacred city of Ayodhya is once again set to bathe in divine light as preparations for Deepotsav 2025 reach their peak. This year’s celebration promises to be bigger, brighter, and more global than ever before — with 22 grand tableaux and Ramlila performances from five countries, reflecting the universal reverence for Lord Ram.
According to Ashutosh Dwivedi, Director of the International Ramayana and Vedic Research Institute, 22 thematic tableaux will form the highlight of the festival, each depicting episodes from the Ramayana and elements of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage. Of these, seven tableaux will be presented by the Sanskrit Department, *fourteen by the Information Department, and *one by the Ayodhya Development Authority.
Foreign Ramlilas to Add a Global Touch
In a remarkable show of international devotion, Ramlila troupes from Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Nepal will perform at Ram Katha Park during the three-day celebration.
Dwivedi explained, “This time, Ramlilas from five countries are coming to Ayodhya. Indonesia’s troupe will depict how Hanuman burned Lanka and brought victory to Lord Ram. Thailand’s performance will showcase three battles — Surpanakha’s clash with Laxman, Lord Ram’s fight with Marich, and the epic Ram-Ravana war.”
Sri Lanka’s interpretation will present the story from their perspective, where Ravana is worshipped as Ravananeshwara, while Nepal’s group — traditionally focused on Sita’s character — will perform the Laxman Shakti Prayog episode this year.
A Vaanar Sena of 100 Children to Lead the Procession
Adding to the festive grandeur, a symbolic ‘Vaanar Sena’ of 100 children will accompany Lord Ram during a divine Yatra to Ram Ki Paidi, following his descent from the iconic Pushpak Viman. “This will be one of the most special attractions this year,” said Dwivedi, highlighting how Deepotsav 2025 will blend devotion, creativity, and tradition in a spectacular display.
A City Bathed in Light and Faith
Ayodhya’s streets have already begun to glow with lamp-shaped illuminations, floral decorations, and cultural installations that elevate its spiritual aura. From Ram Ki Paidi to Hanumangarhi, every corner of the city is being adorned to welcome devotees from across India and abroad.
Officials revealed that Deepotsav 2025 will take place from October 18 to 20, featuring a mesmerizing drone show, light and sound spectacle, and various cultural performances at multiple venues.
The festival has evolved into not just a religious celebration, but a symbol of India’s cultural diplomacy, spreading the message of Ramayana beyond borders.
As Ayodhya readies itself for yet another record-breaking Deepotsav, the sacred land seems poised to remind the world — once again — that faith, light, and unity know no boundaries.
