In a major relief for parents, the district fee regulatory committee chaired by District Magistrate Medha Roopam has directed schools across Greater Noida and Noida to limit fee hikes to a maximum of 7.23% for the academic session 2026–27.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over rising education costs and aims to bring transparency and fairness in private school fee structures. Authorities have made it clear that any violation of this rule will invite strict action after proper investigation.

No Pressure on Parents for Books and Uniforms
The committee has also taken a strong stand against schools forcing parents to purchase books or uniforms from specific vendors.
Parents will now have the freedom to buy educational materials from any shop of their choice, ensuring that schools do not create monopolies or unnecessary financial pressure. This move is expected to reduce the overall burden on families, especially those already struggling with rising living costs.

Uniform Change Restricted to Once in Five Years
Another key decision is related to school uniforms. Schools will now be allowed to change uniforms only once in five years.
If any school wishes to make changes before this period, it must first seek approval from the district fee regulatory committee. This rule aims to prevent frequent and unnecessary changes that often lead to additional expenses for parents.

Focus on NCERT Books and Transparency
The committee has also emphasized the use of NCERT books for teaching, encouraging standardisation and affordability in education.
Additionally, schools have been instructed to upload detailed fee structures on their official websites, just like previous years. This step is intended to ensure transparency and allow parents to stay informed about any changes in fees.

Complaints Mechanism Activated for Parents
To strengthen accountability, parents have been given the option to report violations directly to the district fee regulatory committee via email.
Officials have assured that every complaint will be properly examined, and action will be taken if schools are found violating the guidelines.

Strong Message to Private Schools
With these decisions, the administration has sent a clear message that arbitrary fee hikes and unfair practices will not be tolerated.
The move is expected to bring much-needed relief to parents while ensuring that schools operate within defined and transparent regulations. At the same time, it reinforces the need for a balanced education system where affordability and quality go hand in hand.
