The Uttar Pradesh tableau at the 77th Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path emerged as one of the most admired displays this year, beautifully blending the state’s ancient spiritual heritage with its fast-changing modern identity. From sacred stone sculptures to expressways and industrial corridors, the tableau offered a powerful narrative of a state rooted in tradition yet marching confidently towards the future.
At the heart of the tableau stood a stunning replica of the famous Ek Mukhi Lingam of Kalinger Fort, one of Bundelkhand’s most revered stone carvings. The sacred sculpture symbolised the region’s deep spiritual traditions and extraordinary craftsmanship, instantly capturing the attention of spectators and dignitaries lining Kartavya Path.
Heritage on Display
The central section of the tableau celebrated Bundelkhand’s living craft traditions, showcasing pottery, bead work and a vibrant rural marketplace. These crafts, now recognised under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, highlighted how traditional livelihoods are being revived and integrated into modern economic growth.
Dominating the front portion was the majestic representation of Kalinger Fort, with intricately carved stone pillars and gateways reflecting the architectural brilliance of ancient India. The rear of the tableau featured the revered Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, underlining the spiritual and historical significance of the region.
Adding rhythm and colour, traditional Bundeli folk dancers performed gracefully alongside the moving tableau, filling Kartavya Path with cultural energy. Their performance, accompanied by chants in praise of Lord Shiva, created a devotional and festive atmosphere that resonated deeply with the audience.

Power, Progress and the New Uttar Pradesh
Beyond heritage, the tableau delivered a strong message of transformation. Behind the fort-inspired façade, visuals showcased modern expressways, industrial corridors, infrastructure projects and advanced manufacturing hubs. The display portrayed Uttar Pradesh as a state undergoing rapid development while preserving its cultural roots.
The seamless transition from ancient monuments to high-speed highways symbolised the government’s vision of “Heritage with Development” — where progress does not erase tradition but strengthens it.
Spectators responded enthusiastically, standing up to applaud and capturing the moment on their phones. Many described the tableau as one of the most balanced and visually compelling presentations of the parade.
A Statement to the Nation
Through this tableau, Uttar Pradesh sent a clear message to the nation: it is no longer just a land of history and pilgrimage, but also a rising economic and industrial powerhouse.
By placing Bundelkhand’s spiritual legacy alongside scenes of modern growth, the state showcased its journey from heritage to high-tech, from forts to factories — a transformation that mirrors India’s own path toward becoming a global leader.
