A case has been registered against a pet dog owner after a 13-year-old boy was allegedly attacked by a dog inside a residential complex in Greater Noida, sparking protests among residents who raised concerns about safety inside the society.
According to police, the incident took place at Lotus Welfare Society late Friday night when the boy, identified as Dhruv Veer, was playing inside the premises.
Dog Allegedly Attacked Child While Playing
Police said the incident occurred around 9 pm when the dog suddenly attacked the child and bit his leg.
The injured boy was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he received medical treatment.
The child’s father, Varun, alleged that the dog’s owner had been negligent and allowed the pet to roam freely inside the residential complex, putting other residents—especially children—at risk.
Residents Stage Late-Night Protest
After news of the incident spread across the society, several residents gathered inside the complex late at night and protested, expressing anger and concern over safety.
Many residents said that uncontrolled pets inside housing societies have become a growing safety issue, particularly for children and elderly residents.
Police from Surajpur Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the protest and later dispersed the crowd.
FIR Registered Against Dog Owner
Police detained the dog’s owner, Sachchidanand Nautiyal, a resident of Block 6 of the society, for questioning.
Following a complaint filed by the boy’s father, a case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including:
●Section 291 – Negligent conduct with respect to animals
●Section 352 – Intentional insult provoking breach of peace
●Section 351(3) – Criminal intimidation
Officials said the investigation is currently underway.

Another Dog Attack Case Reported Earlier
Police also mentioned that earlier this month a man was arrested in another case involving a pet dog attack in Noida.
In that incident, two women alleged that a man intentionally instigated his dog to attack them near Pehalwan Market in Sector 70, tearing their clothes before they managed to escape.
The victims later approached the police and filed a complaint.
Growing Debate Over Pet Safety in Housing Societies
The latest incident has reignited discussions among residents about pet ownership rules and safety regulations in residential societies.
Many residents have demanded stricter enforcement of guidelines such as leashing pets, designated walking areas, and accountability for pet owners to prevent such incidents in the future.
