In view of the intensifying cold wave and adverse weather conditions, the district administration of Gautam Buddh Nagar has ordered the closure of all recognized schools for students from Nursery to Class 8 until January 15, 2026.
The decision has been taken following directions issued by the District Magistrate, keeping in mind the health and safety of young children amid extremely low temperatures.
Official order issued by Basic Education Department
According to the official order released by the Office of the District Basic Education Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar, all government, aided, and recognized schools under various education boards — including CBSE, ICSE, UP Board and other recognized institutions — will remain closed for the specified classes during this period.
The order applies strictly to students from Nursery to Class 8, while schools have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
Health concerns prompted the decision
Officials stated that prolonged exposure to severe cold can pose serious health risks, especially for younger children. With temperatures dropping sharply across Noida, Greater Noida and surrounding NCR areas, the administration decided to act proactively to prevent illness and complications among students.
Parents had also been raising concerns about children commuting to school early in the morning during harsh winter conditions.

Monitoring and compliance stressed
The district administration has directed all concerned education officers, school authorities and block-level officials to ensure proper implementation of the order.
Any violation will be viewed seriously.
Copies of the order have been forwarded to senior district officials, education department authorities, and local administration for information and necessary action.
Cold wave continues in NCR
The closure comes amid continued cold wave conditions across NCR, with foggy mornings and low daytime temperatures affecting normal life. Weather agencies have warned that such conditions may persist over the coming days.
Parents and schools have welcomed the move, calling it a necessary step to safeguard children’s health during peak winter.
