In a rare and candid revelation, model-turned-actor Muzammil Ibrahim has disclosed that he was in a two-year relationship with Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone in the early stages of her career. Speaking during an interview, Ibrahim offered a glimpse into a lesser-known chapter of Deepika’s life before she rose to stardom.
“She asked me out first,” Ibrahim recalled, referencing their first meeting at a Tommy Hilfiger fashion show. “That confidence, that drive—I admired it even then.”
The relationship, which reportedly began around the time Deepika was navigating her early modeling and film auditions in Mumbai, unfolded away from the public eye. Ibrahim painted a portrait of modest beginnings and unassuming affection.
“We didn’t live the typical glamorous life people imagine. We’d take rickshaws across the city, even in the rain. There was something deeply real about those days,” he said.
Though the pair eventually parted ways—with Ibrahim initiating the breakup—he said the decision came without regret. “I ended the relationship. I had my reasons, and I don’t regret them. But we shared a meaningful phase.”
He also praised Deepika’s unwavering ambition, linking it to her family upbringing. “She was fiercely confident from the beginning. That came from her father, Prakash Padukone. You could see it in how she carried herself.”
While Ibrahim maintained that they remained in touch on occasion, he confirmed that their connection faded entirely after Deepika’s marriage to actor Ranveer Singh in 2018.
The revelation has reignited media attention on Deepika’s formative years and the quiet personal sacrifices behind her stardom. Neither Padukone nor her representatives have responded to the claims as of this writing.
