With Independence Day celebrations just around the corner, the national capital is transforming into a high-security zone. In a proactive move, the Delhi Police has trained over 4,000 private security guards to bolster safety measures during the upcoming national festivities and crowded religious events.

The special training drive, held over the past weeks, focused on crowd control, access management, emergency response, and spotting suspicious behavior. The guards—drawn from malls, hotels, corporate offices, and market complexes—will work alongside the police to ensure smooth and secure Independence Day celebrations, as well as upcoming festivals like Raksha Bandhan and Janmashtami.

A senior Delhi Police official stated, “We are leaving nothing to chance. These guards are an extended arm of our force during high-footfall events. With proper training, they can be our eyes and ears on the ground.”

Traffic Restrictions for August 13 Dress Rehearsal

Adding to the preparations, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory ahead of the Independence Day dress rehearsal on August 13. From 4 a.m. to 10 a.m., several key roads around Red Fort and central Delhi will remain closed to the general public to facilitate parade movements and security drills.

Routes such as Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, and SP Mukherjee Marg will witness restricted vehicular access, while alternative routes have been suggested to minimize public inconvenience. Commuters are urged to use public transport where possible and factor in additional travel time.

Authorities have also advised residents to cooperate fully with security checks, particularly near iconic landmarks, marketplaces, and metro stations. Sniffer dog squads, CCTV surveillance, and drone monitoring will further tighten the security net.

A City in Full Preparedness Mode

From the Red Fort lawns to neighborhood markets, Delhi is on high alert. Anti-sabotage checks are being conducted, Quick Reaction Teams are on standby, and patrol intensity has been ramped up across vulnerable areas.

With the synchronized effort of Delhi Police, private guards, and vigilant citizens, the capital aims to host a safe, dignified, and joyous 78th Independence Day celebration.

For Delhiites, the message is clear—stay alert, stay patient, and take pride in a city working together to protect its people during one of the year’s most significant events.
