In a major step towards affordable housing, 2,709 economically weaker section (EWS) families in Gurugram were allotted flats under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme, turning a long-awaited dream into reality.
The allotments were carried out through a transparent online lucky draw held at the university campus, in the presence of senior officials and district authorities.
Affordable Homes at Just Rs 1.5 Lakh
Under the scheme, each beneficiary will receive a 200 sq ft flat at a maximum cost of ₹1.5 lakh, making it one of the most accessible housing initiatives for low-income families.
The housing units are located within licensed group housing projects developed by leading builders such as:
Emaar
M3M
DLF
Vatika
Ireo
Sobha
Godrej
The involvement of private developers ensures better infrastructure and integration with existing urban facilities.
Transparent Process with Priority for Vulnerable Groups
The allotment process was conducted by the Haryana Urban Development Authority, with strict eligibility checks.
Applicants who deposited ₹10,000 and cleared verification were included in the draw. Authorities ensured that social justice remained a key focus, giving priority to:
●Widows
●Scheduled caste applicants
●Nomadic tribes
Officials said the initiative is aimed at providing not just housing, but dignity, security, and stability to underprivileged families.
Financial Assistance and Support
To make the process smoother, the district administration set up bank help desks at the venue, assisting beneficiaries with loan processing and documentation.
This step helped many families who otherwise face difficulties in accessing formal financial systems.

Lives Set to Change
For many beneficiaries, the allotment marks a life-changing moment.
Rashmi, a housekeeping worker, said:
“I finally have a home of my own. It brings stability and security to my life.”
Similarly, Mohammad Wazir, a tailor, shared that owning a home will give his children a better and safer environment to grow up in.
A Step Towards Inclusive Urban Growth
Officials described the initiative as a milestone in ensuring inclusive development in rapidly growing cities like Gurugram.
With rising property prices, such schemes play a crucial role in bridging the housing gap and empowering economically weaker sections.
