DUBAI: The state of Uttar Pradesh will showcase its business attractiveness, sectoral developmental growth journey, and investment opportunities across key sectors such as Food processing, Tourism, Textiles, MSMEs, Healthcare, Education, and Start-up at the India Pavilion in EXPO2020 Dubai from December 10 to December 23, 2021.

In his welcome address, Manish Chauhan, Director Industries, Government of Uttar Pradesh, outlined the goals of Uttar Pradesh’s participation at EXPO2020 Dubai: to highlight the state’s growth storey and to explore avenues of collaboration with our investment partners and the diaspora in the UAE. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and our energetic Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has experienced great progress in infrastructure and economic environment, he added.

Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, kicked off the festivities at the inauguration of the Uttar Pradesh floor at the India pavilion with a video greeting.

He stated that “Uttar Pradesh is one of the biggest industrial market. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, by following the principle of ‘Reform-Perform-Transform’, the state has taken numerous initiatives to transform its industrial landscape.”

The state launched Nivesh Mitra, one of the largest single window systems and sectoral policies, which, together with an excellent law and order environment, enabled the state reach the 2nd rank in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) in 2019-20, up from 14th in 2015-16. He went on to highlight the state’s vision and achievements, saying:

*Approximately Rs 3.5 lakh crore worth of private investment actualized on-ground as part of investment outreach.

*Highest number of MSMEs in the country.

*Launch of the One District One Product (ODOP) Scheme in 2018 to promote the indigenous craft of each district.

*4 functional expressways, namely the Yamuna Expressway, the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the Purvanchal Expressway, and the Delhi Meerut. Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone for the Ganga Expressway, India’s longest expressway, on December 18, 2021.

*10 airports, including three international airports connecting to 74 domestic and international destinations, and 11 additional airports on the way.

*Uttar Pradesh’s Metro system is active in four cities to promote efficient local transportation.

* Prime Minister has previously inaugurated the first inland waterways from Haldia to Varanasi.

*Because Greater Noida sits at the crossroads of the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, it has the potential to become a logistics hub.

*The Uttar Pradesh defence corridor has resulted in an increase in defence industry, with the Brahmos missile being constructed in Lucknow. Furthermore, Bharat Dynamics Ltd is investing in Jhansi, and a Rs 12,000 crore investment has been realised in the Aligarh node of the Uttar Pradesh defence corridor.

*With 2 IITs, 1 IIM, 700 engineering colleges, 4 engineering universities, 2000 polytechnic institutes, and 3500 students, Uttar Pradesh has enough skilled labour to contribute to the state’s industrial progress.

Concluding his address, the Chief Minister said, “Despite highest population in India, the state’s effective Covid-19 management and vaccination of 17 crore population is an indicator of the preparedness of the administration. He also highlighted the cultural richness of the state, the birthplace of Lord Rama and Krishna, land of Lord Shiva and River Ganga, which continue to guide the people.”

A high-level team from Uttar Pradesh will meet with potential investors and global corporations to discuss trade and investment opportunities for the state. Delegates from Uttar Pradesh will take part in incubator Meet & Mock Pitching Sessions, panel sessions on ‘India’s Strength in Education: STEM, Medicine, and Business’ & ‘Liberal Arts Education in the Making of a Global Citizen: The India Advantage,’ an industry visit to Allanasons Factory in Sharjah & DP World Jabel Ali Port, business meetings with industry associations (Dubai, Sarjah, and Abu Dhabi), and many other business and cultural engagements.
