The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissionerate has exposed a major online gaming and gambling fraud racket that was cheating people in the name of winning easy money through fake gaming apps. The Bisrakh Police arrested eight members of the gang, including three men and five women, following a targeted raid in Greater Noida West.
During the operation, police recovered 18 mobile phones, four laptops, 155 fake SIM cards, 50 payment QR codes, Rs 45,000 in cash, and several other electronic devices used to run the scam.
In recognition of the successful crackdown, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) announced a cash reward of Rs 15,000 for the police team involved.
Fake Gaming Apps ‘Mazabook’ and ‘Maze Se Jeeto’ Used for Fraud
According to police officials, the accused were operating fraudulent online gaming platforms under the names ‘Mazabook’ and ‘Maze Se Jeeto’. Acting on confidential inputs and local intelligence, the Bisrakh Police conducted a raid on January 7 at a call centre operating from the fourth floor of Gaur City Center near Char Murti Chowk, where the accused were arrested.
The gang lured users by promising high returns through online games and betting platforms, creating the illusion of easy winnings.
How the Scam Worked
During interrogation, police revealed that the gang followed a well-planned strategy:
●Victims were first allowed to win small amounts to build trust
●Once convinced, users were encouraged to invest larger sums
●The accused then manipulated the game outcomes, ensuring losses
●When victims attempted to withdraw money, their accounts were blocked
The gang used fake KYC documents, multiple bank accounts, and fraudulently obtained SIM cards to hide their identity and move money.
Call Centre Used to Target Victims
Police said the gang leader Sonal alias Aniruddh provided data for calling operations. A dedicated call centre targeted individuals who had previously shown interest in online gaming or clicked on related advertisements. The callers persuaded victims to download the fake apps and invest money.
