Chandinagar — The Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC) at Air Force Station Chandinagar was abuzz with energy and pride as the Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade took place, marking the successful completion of training for the Air Force Special Forces ‘Garud’ Commandos. The event was graced by Air Marshal PK Vohra, Senior Air Staff Officer of the Western Air Command, who served as the Reviewing Officer.
The ceremony commenced with a formal inspection by Air Marshal PK Vohra, followed by a congratulatory address to the Garuds. “Your rigorous training and the honing of your Special Forces skills are paramount in keeping pace with the ever-evolving security landscape,” he remarked, underscoring the significance of their preparation. He then presented the Maroon Beret, Garud Proficiency Badge, and Special Forces Tabs to the successful trainees, symbolizing their entry into the elite Garud force.
Highlighting the event was the presentation of the best all-rounder trophy to Flight Lieutenant Shashwat Rana, a testament to his exceptional performance throughout the training. The Reviewing Officer also awarded trophies to other meritorious trainees, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.
The Garud Commandos showcased an impressive array of combat skills during the parade. Spectators were treated to demonstrations of combat firing, hostage rescue operations, firing drills, assault explosives handling, obstacle crossing drills, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling, and military martial arts. These demonstrations reflected the comprehensive and intensive training the Garuds undergo to ensure they are prepared for any mission.
