In a major breakthrough against international cybercrime networks, the Noida Cyber Crime Police have arrested a fake overseas job agent who lured Indian youths with promises of foreign employment and pushed them into cyber slavery in Southeast Asia.
The accused has been identified as Shubham Pundir, a resident of Bhagwan Jalalpur village under Babri police station in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh.
Lured Through Social Media With Fake Job Offers
According to police officials, Shubham Pundir used social media platforms, especially Instagram, to contact unemployed youths and offered them lucrative jobs abroad. He falsely promised data entry jobs in Thailand and collected large sums of money as placement fees.
So far, the accused has trapped at least six youths from different Indian states using similar methods.
From Thailand to Myanmar: Victims Forced into Cyber Slavery
A victim from Sector-73, Noida, filed a complaint on January 12, 2026, stating that he was contacted by the accused via Instagram. Pundir took ₹80,000 from him and arranged an air ticket to Thailand under the pretext of a data entry job.
However, after reaching Thailand, the victim was forcibly taken to Myanmar, where he was handed over to an organised cybercrime syndicate and kept as a captive.
Made to Cheat Foreign Nationals Online
In Myanmar, the victim was subjected to cyber slavery and forced to carry out online fraud targeting foreign nationals. He was made to operate fake profiles on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Tinder, duping people into financial scams.
The victim was later rescued and safely brought back to India.

Arrest Made from Shamli, Multiple Cases Already Registered
