As Holi approaches, food safety authorities in Greater Noida have stepped up inspections to prevent the sale of adulterated or substandard food items during the festive season. Acting on routine surveillance measures, officials conducted raids at manufacturing units in the UPSIDC industrial area in Kasna and collected multiple food samples for laboratory testing.
Wide Range of Food Items Tested
According to officials, a total of 10 samples were taken, covering commonly consumed festive and daily food products. These include:
Paneer
Khoya (mawa)
Sweets
Pizza sauce
Mustard oil
Coconut oil
Other edible oils
The samples have been sent to an accredited laboratory to verify quality, purity, and compliance with food safety standards.
Inspections Target Production Units
Authorities said inspections focused on manufacturing units supplying bulk food products to markets across the region. With demand for dairy products and sweets surging during Holi, officials are particularly vigilant about adulteration risks.
An official involved in the drive stated that strict action will be taken if any sample fails quality tests, including penalties, licence suspension, or closure of units.
Zero Tolerance for Unsafe Food
“Further action will be taken strictly as per the laboratory reports,” a senior officer said, adding that enforcement teams will continue surprise inspections in the days leading up to the festival.
Food safety departments across Uttar Pradesh routinely intensify monitoring before major festivals, when the chances of adulteration rise due to high demand and pressure on supply chains.

Public Urged to Stay Alert
Authorities have also advised consumers to purchase food items only from trusted vendors and report suspicious products or unhygienic conditions. Experts warn that adulterated dairy products and oils can pose serious health risks, especially for children and the elderly.
With Holi celebrations just days away, officials say the ongoing crackdown aims to ensure that festive treats remain safe, hygienic, and free from harmful adulterants.
