Good news for millions of salaried employees across India — the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has gone fully digital, making it possible to check your PF balance instantly, even without remembering your Universal Account Number (UAN).
In an era where financial transparency and easy access to savings are essential, EPFO’s upgraded digital tools — including missed call, SMS, UMANG app, and online services — ensure that your retirement savings are always within reach. This initiative reflects EPFO’s broader mission: making India’s retirement ecosystem smarter, simpler, and more accessible.
How to Check PF Balance Without UAN
If you’ve forgotten your UAN, don’t panic. EPFO’s new system allows you to check your balance with just a missed call.
Simply dial 9966044425 from your registered mobile number. The call will disconnect automatically, and within seconds, you’ll receive an SMS with your latest PF balance and contribution details.
This feature is free and available to members whose UANs are already linked to Aadhaar, PAN, or a bank account.
Alternatively, visit EPFO’s Unified Member Portal and click on “No UAN Service.” Enter your name, date of birth, PF account number, and employer name to view your balance instantly on the screen.
Forgot Your UAN? Recover It in Minutes
For those who’ve changed jobs or lost access to their old mobile number, retrieving your UAN is easy.
Go to the EPFO website and click ‘Forgot UAN’ on the login page. Enter your personal details — name, Aadhaar or PAN, and date of birth. After verifying your OTP, your UAN will be displayed immediately.
If you still face issues, EPFO’s regional offices and 24×7 helpdesk can guide you through the process.
eKYC Verification: Now Mandatory
EPFO has made eKYC verification compulsory for all members. Without linking Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account to your UAN, services like PF withdrawal, passbook download, or balance check may not function properly.
To ensure uninterrupted access, complete your eKYC verification as soon as possible.
Instant Access Through UMANG App
EPFO’s UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app offers the fastest way to check your PF balance.
Once downloaded from Google Play or the App Store, simply link your UAN and select EPF services. Within seconds, your current balance, contribution history, and KYC status appear on screen.
Supporting 13 Indian languages, the UMANG app ensures every employee — from metros to small towns — can manage their PF with ease.
Digital India’s Financial Empowerment
EPFO’s new digital drive marks a turning point in India’s journey toward financial transparency and digital inclusion. By making PF access seamless, the organisation is helping millions of workers track their savings, plan their future, and feel more in control of their financial well-being.
Whether or not you remember your UAN, your retirement fund is now just a call, an SMS, or a tap away — truly a digital breakthrough for every working Indian.
