A growing sanitation crisis has gripped several parts of Greater Noida, where garbage has remained uncollected for days, triggering serious health concerns among residents. Areas such as Ghodi Bachheda, Alpha 2, Delta sectors, and Surajpur-Kasna are among the worst affected, with locals complaining of foul smell, unhygienic conditions, and rising frustration.
Residents say the situation has worsened over the past week, with repeated complaints yielding little action.
Health Hazards and Daily Disruption
The piling waste is not just an inconvenience—it is now a public health risk.
Locals report:
●Persistent foul odour across residential areas
●Increase in flies, insects, and stray animals
●Risk of infections and diseases
A resident from the Surajpur-Kasna belt described the situation as “unbearable,” stating that daily life is being affected due to the unhygienic surroundings.
Residents Demand Permanent Solution
In Ghodi Bachheda, a vacant plot near Sector Xu-1 has reportedly turned into an unofficial dumping ground.
Residents have:
●Urged authorities to install proper waste disposal systems
●Suggested converting the dumping site into a community centre to prevent misuse
●Called for stricter monitoring and accountability
Despite multiple complaints, locals claim that no concrete action has been taken so far.
Authority Response: Blame on Irregular Dumping
Officials from the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) acknowledged the issue but pointed to indiscriminate dumping by residents and vendors as a key challenge.
According to officials:
●Garbage collection is carried out every 1–2 days
●Market vendors, especially in Alpha 2, often fail to use designated dumping points
Authorities have assured that inspections will be conducted and a long-term solution will be explored.

Slow Response Draws Criticism
Residents and RWA representatives from Alpha 2, Delta 1, and Delta 2 have criticised the slow response mechanism, claiming that waste often remains unattended for several days.
They are demanding:
●Immediate clearance of accumulated garbage
●Regular and monitored collection schedules
●Strict penalties for illegal dumping
Larger Concern: Waste Management Gap
The issue highlights a broader challenge in rapidly growing urban areas like Greater Noida:
◆Rising population → Increased waste generation
◆Weak enforcement → Poor disposal practices
◆Lack of infrastructure → Recurring sanitation failures
Without a systematic waste management strategy, such problems are likely to persist.
