In a move aimed at strengthening action against financial crimes, police have decided that any recovery of a large amount of cash during investigations will now be formally shared with the Income Tax Department and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The decision was announced during a district-level review meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vikas Arora, who held discussions with senior police officers on crime control and administrative coordination.
Focus on transparency and inter-agency coordination
Addressing officers, DCP Arora said that sharing information with central financial agencies would help ensure greater transparency and accountability in cases involving suspected illegal money. The move is expected to strengthen investigations related to financial irregularities, money laundering, and unaccounted cash.
Crime review across multiple categories
During the meeting, the police commissioner conducted a detailed review of crime trends in the district, with special focus on:
●Heinous crimes
●Property-related offences
●Cyber crime
●Crimes against women
●Drug trafficking
●Road-related crimes
●Pending investigation cases
Officers were instructed to adopt effective strategies, ensure swift action, and maintain continuous monitoring to curb crime.

Use of modern technology emphasised
Senior officials stressed the importance of using modern technology and advanced tools to improve policing efficiency. According to officials, technology-driven surveillance and data analysis play a key role in crime detection, monitoring, and prevention, while also improving public trust in policing.
Rah-Veer Scheme highlighted
The meeting also focused on the Rah-Veer Scheme, launched by the government to encourage citizens to help road accident victims. Under the scheme:
◆Any person who timely helps an injured accident victim reach a hospital will receive a reward of Rs 25,000
◆Every year, names of three Rah-Veers from the district will be sent to the government
◆From across the state, 10 Rah-Veers will be selected and honoured with Rs 1 lakh each
Police officials were directed to create awareness about the scheme so more people come forward to assist accident victims without fear or hesitation.
Strengthening public safety and trust
Officials said the dual approach of tightening financial oversight and promoting citizen participation in road safety reflects the police department’s broader goal of making law enforcement more effective, transparent, and people-centric.
The directives issued during the meeting are expected to enhance coordination between agencies while also encouraging responsible public involvement in emergency situations.
