In an important step toward strengthening global cooperation against cybercrime, the International Association of Cyber Police Officers (IACPO) has been launched to create a worldwide platform for discussion, collaboration, and knowledge sharing on cyber policing, digital crime investigation, and emerging cyber security challenges.
The initiative is being led by Prof. Triveni Singh, a former Indian Police officer and internationally recognised cybercrime investigation expert, who will guide the association’s vision of building a global professional network dedicated to tackling digital crimes and strengthening cyber investigation capabilities.
Addressing the Global Cybercrime Challenge
Cybercrime has emerged as one of the fastest-growing forms of crime worldwide, causing financial losses worth trillions of dollars annually and impacting governments, businesses, and citizens alike. However, many law-enforcement agencies across the world continue to face major challenges such as limited expertise, inadequate digital forensic infrastructure, shortage of trained cyber investigators, and lack of international cooperation.
Despite the growing sophistication of cybercriminal networks operating across borders, cyber policing capabilities remain uneven in many jurisdictions. Experts estimate a global shortage of millions of trained cybersecurity and cyber investigation professionals, leaving agencies struggling to keep pace with evolving digital threats.
Recognising this gap, the International Association of Cyber Police Officers (IACPO) aims to create a collaborative ecosystem where investigators, technologists, policymakers, and security professionals can exchange knowledge, develop investigative capabilities, and strengthen international cooperation.
Key Areas of Collaboration
The association will promote debate, research, and professional training in several critical areas of cyber policing and digital investigations, including:
• Cyber crime investigation and cyber attack mitigation
• Cyber security and protection of critical infrastructure
• Computer and mobile forensics
• Digital evidence management and OSINT intelligence tools
• Malware and network forensics
• Dark web investigations and social media analytics
• Cryptocurrency and blockchain forensics
• Cloud forensics and big data analytics
• AI and deepfake investigation
• Banking data investigation and financial cybercrime
• Digital evidence analysis including disk, memory, and log forensics
The association will also focus on emerging areas such as predictive policing technologies, cyber forensic laboratories, digital case management systems, and evolving cyber laws and regulatory frameworks.

Global Membership
Membership in IACPO will be open to professionals working in cyber security and digital investigations, including:
• Police officers and cybercrime investigators
• Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs)
• Defence and intelligence professionals
• Corporate risk and compliance teams
• BFSI fraud investigation professionals
• Cyber security experts and digital forensic specialists
• Critical infrastructure operators and technology professionals
Vision for Global Cooperation
According to Prof. Triveni Singh, cybercrime has become a borderless threat that requires coordinated global action.
“Cybercrime is no longer confined to one country or jurisdiction. Criminal networks operate across continents using advanced technologies. There is an urgent need for a global platform where cyber police officers, investigators, and experts can collaborate, share intelligence, and build collective capability. IACPO aims to fill this critical gap.”
The launch of the International Association of Cyber Police Officers (IACPO) marks a significant step toward building a global professional community committed to strengthening cybercrime investigation, improving digital forensic capacity, and securing the world’s digital ecosystem.
