Greater Noida Authority Launches Special Drive to Fix Street Lights Across Sectors

In response to long-pending public complaints over non-functional street lights and damaged electric poles, the Greater Noida Authority’s electricity department has launched a special repair and maintenance drive to restore lighting across sectors, roads, villages, and public spaces.

Residents across several sectors had been facing severe inconvenience due to prolonged darkness at night, raising concerns over safety, accidents, and crime. After sustained demands from citizens, the authority has now moved into action with a focused campaign to repair broken infrastructure.

Broken Poles and Defunct Street Lights to Be Repaired
Under the special drive, teams from the electricity department will:
◆Repair damaged and fallen electric poles
◆Restore non-functional street lights
◆Replace severely damaged lighting fixtures
◆Inspect vulnerable poles to prevent future failures
Authority officials said that all street-light related complaints are expected to be resolved within the next few weeks, ensuring safer and well-lit roads across Greater Noida.

Storm Damage Left Many Areas in Darkness
Officials explained that a severe storm in June last year caused widespread damage across sectors and villages. Hundreds of trees were uprooted, leading to:
◆Collapse of multiple street-light poles
◆Damage to electrical wiring
◆Long-term power infrastructure issues in several locations
In many areas, poles had also weakened over time and collapsed due to poor structural condition, worsening the situation and leaving streets dark for months.

Authority Assures Quick Resolution
The Greater Noida Authority has assured residents that the campaign is being monitored closely and priority is being given to high-traffic and residential areas. Officials claim the drive will significantly improve night-time visibility and public safety.

Residents have welcomed the move, hoping that the long-standing issue of dark streets will finally be resolved on a permanent basis.
