The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority has warned that water connections of nearly 29,000 households could be disconnected if pending water bills amounting to Rs 270 crore are not cleared before the end of March.
Officials have urged residents and property owners in Greater Noida to clear their outstanding dues by March 31, failing which strict action will be taken.
Authorities said that after the deadline, annual interest will also be added to the outstanding amount, further increasing the financial burden on defaulters.
Large Number of Connections in Default
According to officials, Greater Noida currently has more than 51,000 water connections, out of which over 29,000 connections have pending dues.
The total outstanding amount has now reached around Rs 270 crore, making it one of the largest pending utility payments in the region.
Officials stated that despite repeated notices, many residents and property owners have not cleared their dues.
Builder Societies Account for Major Share of Dues
A significant portion of the pending amount is linked to builder societies in the city.
Authorities revealed that:
●Around 92 builder societies alone account for nearly ₹150 crore in unpaid water bills.
●More than 28,000 residential properties are also listed among defaulters.
●Outstanding dues also include six IT establishments, 321 institutional properties, 763 industrial units, 20 residential associations, and 21 commercial properties.
Officials say the widespread defaults have forced the authority to consider strict measures.
Disconnection May Lead to Water Crisis
The authority had previously refrained from cutting connections to avoid inconvenience to residents. However, with the summer season approaching, officials say the situation has become unsustainable.
If connections are disconnected after March 31, thousands of households could face serious water shortages during the peak summer months.
Authorities have therefore appealed to residents to clear their dues before the deadline.

Online Payment Facility Available
To make the payment process easier, the authority has provided an online portal for checking and clearing water bills.
Residents can check their dues and make payments through the official website:

Officials said residents whose KYC details are updated have also received bill notifications through SMS and email alerts.
