Vishveshwarya College in Greater Noida came under intense scrutiny on Monday after a female student accused a faculty member of harassment. The allegation led to protests outside the college premises, with members of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha staging a dharna at the main gate and demanding immediate action against the accused teacher.
Student Raises Serious Allegations
According to student representatives, the complainant alleged inappropriate behaviour by the teacher, which caused her mental distress. The matter reportedly came to light after the student approached peers and student leaders, following which the issue was raised with the college administration.
The protesters alleged that such incidents reflect a failure to ensure a safe and secure environment for female students on campus.
Protest at College Gate
Members of the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha gathered at the college gate, raising slogans and demanding a transparent inquiry. They urged the administration to suspend the accused teacher until the investigation is completed and ensure protection for the complainant.
Student leaders warned that if strict action is not taken, the protest could be intensified in the coming days.

Demand for Institutional Accountability
The protesting students demanded the activation of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as per University Grants Commission (UGC) norms. They also called for the involvement of university authorities to ensure an unbiased probe.
Tags related to the issue were shared on social media, drawing the attention of education authorities, district administration, and political leaders.
Administration Yet to Respond
As of the time of reporting, the college administration had not issued an official statement on the allegations. Students and activists, however, stressed that silence from the authorities would only deepen mistrust and fear among students.
The incident has once again brought the issue of women’s safety in educational institutions into focus, with calls for stricter monitoring, quicker grievance redressal, and zero tolerance towards harassment on campuses.
