The Greater Noida Authority has taken strict action against two well-known restaurant chains — Barbeque Nation and Barcos Hotel — for violating Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. Both establishments have been fined Rs 52,000 each for failing to properly process and dispose of garbage at their premises in Beta-2 sector.

Improper Garbage Disposal Found During Inspection
During a routine inspection, the Authority’s Health Department team found that waste generated at both restaurants was not being segregated or processed as per prescribed norms. Officials noted serious lapses in solid waste handling, despite repeated guidelines issued to commercial establishments.

Following the inspection, immediate action was taken, and both restaurants were issued penalty notices on the spot.

Strict Instructions Issued to Management
Along with imposing fines, the Greater Noida Authority has directed both hotels to ensure proper waste segregation, processing, and disposal in the future. Officials warned that stricter action, including higher penalties, could be taken if violations continue.

Authority Conducting Continuous Enforcement Drive
Officials said that negligence in waste management is not limited to residential societies but is also common among hotels, restaurants, and branded food chains. To address this, the Health Department is conducting continuous inspection drives across Greater Noida.

Recently, inspections at housing societies and commercial establishments resulted in penalties exceeding Rs 20 lakh for similar violations.

Focus on Cleanliness and Environmental Compliance
The Greater Noida Authority reiterated that strict enforcement of solid waste management norms is essential to maintain cleanliness, public health, and environmental safety. The inspection drive will continue in the coming days to ensure compliance across the city.
