A disturbing case has emerged from Noida, where a premature newborn baby was allegedly being sold for Rs 2.6 lakh in a private hospital. The incident has raised serious concerns over illegal practices and child safety within healthcare facilities.
The case came to light in the Bisrakh police station, where authorities uncovered a shocking attempt to traffic a newborn girl just days after her birth.
Premature Baby Left Behind, Turned Into ‘Deal’
According to officials, the baby was born prematurely around five days ago. Soon after delivery, the biological mother reportedly left the newborn at the hospital.
Instead of ensuring proper care, a nurse working at the hospital allegedly hatched a plan to sell the baby. She involved her husband in the operation, who began searching for potential buyers.
The accused even circulated messages in WhatsApp groups under the pretext of illegal adoption, offering the newborn to interested couples.
Rs 3 Lakh Demand, Deal Fixed at Rs 2.6 Lakh
The accused initially demanded Rs 3 lakh for the baby. After negotiations, the deal was finalized at Rs 2.6 lakh with a couple living in a nearby society.
However, a disagreement between the parties unexpectedly changed the course of events. The argument raised suspicion, prompting the couple to report the matter to child and women helpline authorities.
Trap Laid, 3 Accused Arrested
Following the complaint, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) quickly swung into action. The team set up a trap and conducted a raid at the hospital.
During the operation:
●The hospital owner was taken into custody
●The nurse and her husband were also arrested
●The newborn baby was safely rescued
Authorities confirmed that timely intervention prevented a serious case of human trafficking.

Serious Questions on Hospital Oversight
The incident has exposed alarming lapses in monitoring and ethics within private healthcare setups.
Key concerns raised:
●Lack of supervision over hospital staff
●Misuse of medical facilities for illegal activities
●Absence of strict checks on abandoned newborn cases
Officials are now expected to conduct a deeper investigation into the hospital’s operations and possible involvement of others.
A Wake-Up Call for Authorities
This case highlights the urgent need for:
●Stronger surveillance in hospitals
●Strict regulation of adoption processes
●Awareness about legal adoption channels
Illegal trafficking under the guise of adoption continues to be a serious threat, especially for vulnerable newborns.
