A video allegedly showing worms in food served to a patient at Gurugram Civil Hospital has sparked concern and prompted an official inquiry in Gurugram.
The clip, which surfaced on social media, shows contaminated food claimed to have been served inside the hospital, raising serious questions about hygiene standards and patient safety.

Authorities Say Video Not Verified
Hospital authorities, however, have urged caution, stating that the video has not yet been verified.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Lokveer Singh said that preliminary findings suggest the food shown may not be from the hospital kitchen.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the food shown in the video doesn’t match the hospital’s menu for the day. It seemed that the patient ordered or someone else brought the food,” he said.

Inquiry Ordered, Strict Action Promised
Despite the uncertainty, the administration has ordered a detailed probe to verify the source of the food and identify any lapses.
Dr Singh added:
“Strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible.”
Officials confirmed that the investigation will also examine whether there was any negligence by hospital staff or external vendors involved in food supply.

Hospital Claims Food Prepared In-House
Authorities clarified that patient meals are prepared within the hospital premises, following standard protocols.
Dieticians have now been instructed to:
●Ensure fresh and hygienic food preparation
●Monitor quality checks more strictly
●Prevent any external food from entering patient meal systems
●Focus on Accountability and Hygiene
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of food safety in public healthcare facilities.
Officials said the ongoing probe will determine:
●Whether the video is genuine
●If the food was hospital-supplied or brought from outside
●Any lapses in supervision or hygiene practices
