In what doctors are calling nothing short of a miracle, a 10-year-old boy in Indore has survived a life-threatening accident after an 8-centimetre iron nail was successfully removed from deep inside his brain during a rare and high-risk surgery.
The incident unfolded when the child was playing near a construction site and accidentally fell, hitting his head on a loose iron nail that pierced his skull and lodged into his brain. Shocked and terrified, his family rushed him to a private hospital where a team of neurosurgeons sprang into action.
CT scans revealed the horrifying reality: the nail had narrowly missed critical areas of the brain. Every second counted as doctors prepared for what would become one of the most delicate and dangerous brain surgeries ever attempted in the city.
“Had the nail moved even slightly, it could have caused irreversible damage or death. We had to be extremely precise,” said the lead neurosurgeon.
In a nerve-racking two-hour procedure, surgeons carefully extracted the nail while avoiding major blood vessels and brain structures. Against all odds, the operation was a complete success.
Even more astonishing — the child is now awake, fully conscious, and showing no signs of neurological impairment. Doctors describe his survival and recovery as “extraordinary.”
“This case will be remembered as one of the rarest and most successful emergency surgeries. The boy’s strength and our team’s coordination saved a precious life,” said the hospital’s medical director.
