India’s national capital is preparing to take center stage on the global technology map as it gets ready to host the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in February. Ahead of the high-profile international event, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched an extensive civic and infrastructure rejuvenation drive to present the city at its best.
Scheduled from February 15 to 20, the summit will bring together global policymakers, artificial intelligence experts, innovators, and industry leaders. The event is expected to focus on the future of inclusive AI, policy frameworks, and technological innovation, placing New Delhi under international attention.
Aiming for a G20-Level Experience
NDMC officials said the objective is not limited to hosting the summit but to create a G20-like urban experience for global delegates. As part of this effort, large-scale improvements are underway across roads, footpaths, lighting, signage, and public spaces.
A detailed survey of 41 major avenue roads in the NDMC area has been conducted. Based on the findings, specific responsibilities have been assigned to departments to fix deficiencies well before the summit.
Focus on Key Routes and Venues
Special attention is being given to areas surrounding Bharat Mandapam, the main venue for the summit’s opening ceremony. Roads connecting the airport, Connaught Place, India Gate, Lodhi Garden, Humayun’s Tomb, major hotels, and diplomatic zones are being upgraded to ensure smooth mobility and enhanced visual appeal.
Cleanliness, Greenery, and Air Quality
To maintain high environmental standards, NDMC has intensified its “Operation Clean” campaign across all 14 civic circles. Mechanical road sweepers, mist sprayers, water sprinklers, and smog guns are being deployed to improve cleanliness and air quality.
Green landscaping is also a key component of the plan. Roundabouts, junctions, and prominent locations are being beautified with flowers and ornamental plants, while public fountains, statues, and heritage structures are undergoing restoration.

Public Engagement Through AI
As part of public outreach, Central Park at Connaught Place will host AI-focused public engagement activities from February 16 to 20. Interactive stalls by leading AI companies will allow citizens to directly experience emerging technologies.
NDMC officials stated that these combined efforts aim to ensure that India AI Summit 2026 not only showcases India’s leadership in artificial intelligence but also reflects New Delhi’s capability to host world-class global events with efficiency, cleanliness, and innovation.
