India’s dream of becoming a global semiconductor powerhouse is moving from blueprint to reality — and the first ‘Made in India’ chip is now just around the corner.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking on the progress of the country’s ambitious semiconductor mission, confirmed that production is in the final stages and the inaugural chip will roll out soon. This milestone is being celebrated as a leap toward self-reliance in a sector long dominated by global giants.

A Mission on the Fast Lane
The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) is not just a government project — it’s a high-stakes push to secure the country’s future in technology, from smartphones and cars to defence systems. PM Modi praised the speed and precision with which the mission is progressing, crediting both industry and policy alignment for turning vision into reality.

Why It Matters
India has historically depended on imports for semiconductors, making the supply chain vulnerable to global shortages. With the first homegrown chip about to debut, the country takes a decisive step towards technological sovereignty and economic resilience.

The announcement has sparked excitement in the tech community, with experts predicting a boost to domestic manufacturing, exports, and R&D jobs.

“This isn’t just a chip — it’s a symbol of India’s determination to lead in future technologies,” PM Modi said.

As the countdown begins, all eyes are on the unveiling — a moment that could redefine India’s place in the global tech map.
