KGMU Celebrates Constitution Day 2024 with Unity, Awareness, and a Tribute to Democratic Values

LUCKNOW: King George’s Medical University (KGMU) , Lucknow, marked Constitution Day 2024 with a series of inspiring events, embracing the values and principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The celebrations commenced with a Constitution Awareness Rally at 7:00 AM, where students, staff, and faculty carried copies of the Preamble, reaffirming their commitment to constitutional ideals. The rally started from the Administrative Building, passed through the University’s Main Gate and Gandhi Ward, and concluded back at the Administrative Building. Participants took a solemn pledge to honor and uphold the Constitution.

Constitution Awareness Rally
The celebrations began on Constitution Day, November 26, 2024, with a Constitution Awareness Rally at 7:00 AM. Students, staff, and teachers carried copies of the Preamble of the Constitution as they marched through the campus. The rally started from the Administrative Building and covered key landmarks, including the University’s Main Gate and Gandhi Ward, before culminating back at the Administrative Building. All participants pledged to uphold and dedicate themselves to the values enshrined in the Constitution.

Main Event at Brown Hall
The primary event took place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at KGMU’s iconic Brown Hall, presided over by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor. Esteemed speakers, including Medical Superintendent Dr. Suresh Kumar, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. B.K. Ojha, Dr. Suresh Babu, Padma Shri awardee Dr. S.N. Kureel, and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Apjit Kaur, shared their insights on the significance of the Constitution. A Constitution Oath Ceremony was held, and a lithographic print of the original Indian Constitution, adopted on November 26, 1949, was ceremonially installed in the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

Dr. R.A.S. Kushwaha, Dean, Student Welfare, King George’s Medical University, spearheaded the week-long activities and played a pivotal role in organizing the Constitution Awareness Rally and other events to mark the occasion with enthusiasm and dignity.

Debate Competition and Closing Message
At 4:00 PM, a debate competition on the core principles of the Constitution was held, showcasing the eloquence and intellect of the students. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor urged everyone to respect and uphold their fundamental duties and rights, emphasizing the role of the Constitution as the cornerstone of democracy.

The event witnessed active participation from the Deans of various faculties, including Paramedical, Dental, and Nursing, along with eminent academicians like Dr. Puran Chand, Professor Rajesh Verma, Dr. Sudhanshu Dwivedi, Dr. Shalini Tripathi, and Dr. Nisha Singh. A large gathering of enthusiastic students also marked their presence, making the occasion truly memorable.
