In a major push to urban transformation, the Lucknow Development Authority has approved a massive Rs 5,148 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27. The decision was taken during the 187th board meeting chaired by the divisional commissioner, with a strong focus on housing, infrastructure, and city expansion.
The ambitious plan aims to reshape Lucknow into a more connected, modern, and livable city with a mix of residential, commercial, and smart infrastructure projects.
Affordable Housing Gets Major Focus
A key highlight of the budget is the push for affordable housing. Under the Sharda Nagar Extension Scheme, around 848 affordable homes will be developed with an estimated investment of Rs 200 crore.
This move is expected to provide relief to middle- and lower-income families, making home ownership more accessible in the state capital.
IT City & Wellness Projects Get Funding Boost
The authority has also allocated funds for several high-impact projects, including:
●Development of a modern IT City
●Expansion of a Wellness City
●Infrastructure upgrades in Naimish Nagar and Varun Vihar
These projects are aimed at boosting employment opportunities, investment inflow, and planned urban expansion across different parts of the city.
Rs 400 Crore Green Corridor to Ease Traffic Woes
To tackle growing traffic congestion, the LDA has proposed a Rs 400 crore Green Corridor project.
The corridor will:
●Improve traffic flow and connectivity
●Reduce urban congestion
●Support faster movement across key city routes
Officials believe this will significantly improve commuting conditions and reduce travel time for residents.

Strict Action on Illegal Construction
Taking a firm stance on urban violations, the authority has directed officials to take strict action against unauthorized constructions.
The move aims to ensure that:
●Development follows approved plans and regulations
●Infrastructure is not burdened by illegal structures
●The city grows in a planned and sustainable manner
Vision: A Smarter, Faster-Growing Lucknow
With this budget, Lucknow is gearing up for a new phase of growth focused on modern infrastructure, better housing, and improved urban mobility.
Officials say the combination of affordable housing, IT-driven development, and green infrastructure will help position Lucknow as one of North India’s fastest-growing urban centers.
